About The Position

We are currently seeking a Commercial Manager for our Data Center Group in Chicago, IL. This role will require some travel to the job site in Mount Pleasant, WI. The Commercial Manager participates with ownership and management in strategic business development and client relationships. They will contribute to the go/no go process by providing guidance from a legal perspective regarding owner reputation and contract risks and provide strategic guidance on commercial / financial risks and opportunities. The Commercial Manager will provide management of day-to-day project commercial issues, finances and/or contracts. They will support to Project Leader through understanding of contracts, drafting key project correspondence and focusing on how to protect company/project long term interests. They will develop strategies to reduce risk in procurement and in performing projects. Requirements

  • Minimum 6 years industry experience for bachelor's degree
  • Minimum 4 years industry experience for Juris Doctorate degree
  • Leadership skills and ability to be creative in finding solutions
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organization skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment and meet all project deadlines
  • Must be a team player and have flexibility/desire to take on numerous tasks
  • Position is based in Chicago, IL however assignment may require some travel to jobsites in Mt Pleasant, WI

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic consultation to avoid claims, limit company exposure, and develop positions that maximize recovery.
  • Understand and underwrite risk from the proposal/pursuit phase through project execution.
  • Gain knowledge of project finances and accounting to provide strategic guidance that reduces risks and maximizes opportunities.
  • Master understanding of owner contracts and sub/vendor agreements to ensure compliance with contractual provisions and industry standards.
  • Gain knowledge of commercial and operational procedures and recommend improvements as needed.
  • Manage project controls to ensure all corporate and project processes and procedures are properly implemented.
  • Gain understanding of field operations to support the project team and strengthen the company’s contractual position.
  • Demonstrate the courage to challenge the status quo and pursue continuous improvement.
  • Work with the Strategic Projects Group in negotiating owner contracts for alternative delivery procurements, particularly P3 projects and large design-build or CMAR projects.
  • Participate in the go/no-go process by providing legal guidance on owner reputation and contract risks.
