About The Position

The Business Developer is responsible for developing sales opportunities within their assigned territories by working with the operations team and building relationships with potential clients. An ideal candidate must possess strong social skills, be self-motivated, organized, detail oriented and have a competitive drive to develop leads and opportunities to close contracts and expand the company’s growth. This position reports to the Director of Business Development and works closely with the Branch Managers, Central Estimators, and the Sales Team.

Requirements

  • Must have strong verbal and written communication, detail orientated, organized, time management, ability to meet/exceed sales goals, positive attitude, honest, hardworking and have a team mentality
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite, Aspire software knowledge a plus
  • Excellent sales and customer service skills with proven negotiation skills and sales track record
  • Knowledge of sales cycle and solution selling techniques
  • Thorough understanding of our companies’ services/products along with a vast knowledge of the company’s history, employee ownership, safety program and reputation
  • Prospecting techniques to create interest with prospective clients
  • Ability to speak and present professionally in group settings
  • Must be able to travel
  • Overnight stays may be required
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds
  • 3-5 years sales experience

Nice To Haves

  • BSc/BA in business administration, sales or relevant field preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for developing long-term relationships with current and prospective clients to further grow landscape business
  • Establish target properties/clients through market research, canvassing, cold calling, building relationships and internal lead development
  • Qualifying the property/client, identify key decision makers, collect property intel
  • Coordinate with Director of Business Development and operations to develop mutually beneficial proposal packages
  • Work with central estimating team and operations team to generate estimates in Aspire and ensure team has a full understanding of the scope of services and client’s needs, budgets and timelines
  • Manage Aspire and other integrated software systems to maximize sales performance
  • Create and manage tasks to measure communication, meetings and information on new and pending opportunities and potential client leads
  • Build and manage sales pipeline
  • Prepare, submit and present proposal packages to clients and negotiate contracts
  • Drive the end-to-end sales process
  • Ensure a smooth transition from contract execution to operations
  • Attend and participate in sales meetings and operations meetings regularly to ensure mutual understanding of our strategic focus
  • Provide weekly/monthly updates to management and operations team
  • Attend networking events, set up meetings with potential clients, and cold call regularly
  • Manage expenses and budget
