Medtronic's Acute Care & Monitoring (ACM) business works together with the global healthcare community to solve clinically meaningful problems, with technologies and solutions for blood oxygen management, respiratory compromise, and perioperative complications. Our vision is to empower patient safety - anytime, anywhere. We are seeking a Connectivity Support Engineer to advance medical device connectivity for our monitoring solutions. In this highly cross‑functional, customer‑facing role, you will gather and synthesize connectivity needs directly from customers, assess interoperability with multi‑parameter monitors (MPMs) and EMR systems, and validate real‑world connectivity across diverse hospital environments. This position blends technical curiosity, strong communication skills, and hands‑on testing. Success in this role requires the ability to learn quickly, communicate clearly, and build strong working relationships with hospital staff and internal stakeholders. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree + 2 years related experience, or Masters degree in engineering, biomedical engineering preferred — OR equivalent technical field.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working directly with hospital staff, clinical environments, or medical devices.
  • Customer support, field engineering, or technical sales experience.
  • Proven communication, customer‑facing, and stakeholder‑management skills.
  • Ability to synthesize customer needs, organize information, and prioritize effectively.
  • Biomedical engineering background
  • Understanding of how medical devices encode and transmit vital signs data.
  • Experience collecting VOC (voice of customer) insights or supporting product discovery.
  • Familiarity with interoperability concepts, device‑to‑system communication, or connectivity standards.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on medical device connectivity between Medtronic monitoring devices, hospital networks, MPMs, and EMR systems.
  • Collect customer feedback directly through site visits, calls, and collaboration with field sales teams.
  • Document connectivity needs, requests, and constraints; build and maintain a prioritized backlog of connectivity requirements.
  • Lead cross-functional discussions with R&D, Clinical, Marketing, Regulatory, and other internal partners to align on priorities.
  • Conduct hands-on connectivity testing at partner hospitals, including validating data transmission of vital signs across different systems.
  • Troubleshoot interoperability challenges and support investigation of customer-reported connectivity issues.
  • Prepare clear, organized documentation of findings, risks, and recommended next steps.
  • Collaborate closely with the Test Automation and DevOps teams when connectivity issues impact testing workflows.
  • This role requires travel based on business needs, up to 25% of the time.
