Connectivity Architect- Senior
About The Position
We are seeking an experienced Senior Connectivity Architect to join our Connectivity Team. This role serves as the critical bridge between IT and OT domains, responsible for designing, configuring, and validating data integrations between shop floor equipment and enterprise systems following ISA-95 standards. The successful candidate will work closely with IT architects, OT engineers, site teams, and external vendors to establish standardized, reusable integration patterns that connect diverse OT systems (BMS, EMS, DCS) with enterprise applications (Data Management & Analytics, AVEVA PI Historian, MES, LIMS etc.).
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in IT/OT integration, industrial automation, or manufacturing systems
- Hands-on experience implementing data integrations in manufacturing/industrial environments
- Experience working in pharmaceutical, life sciences, or similarly regulated industries preferred
- Knowledge and working experience with OT systems including: - DCS (Distributed Control Systems) - e.g., Siemens PCS7 - BMS (Building Management Systems) - EMS (Energy Management Systems) - KEPServerEX (configuration, tag management, connectivity)
- Strong understanding of industrial communication protocols: - OPC UA (Unified Architecture) - OPC DA (Data Access) - REST / HTTP APIs - TCP/UDP networking fundamentals - Modbus TCP/RTU - MQTT (messaging, topics, QoS)
- Experience with historian systems (AVEVA PI, OSIsoft PI, or equivalent)
- Understanding of time-series data, data compression, and retrieval patterns
Nice To Haves
- Experience in GxP/validated environments (pharma, biotech, medical devices)
- Familiarity with GAMP 5 guidelines and CSV (Computer System Validation) processes
- Knowledge of cybersecurity principles for OT environments (IEC 62443, network segmentation)
- Experience with SQL databases and data modeling
- Certifications in relevant platforms (Kepware, AVEVA, Siemens, etc.)
- Knowledge of MES platforms, particularly Werum PAS-X
- Understanding of ISA-95 / ISA-88 standards and batch/recipe management concepts
- Experience with integration/middleware platforms (MuleSoft, Informatica, Dell Boomi, or similar)
- Familiarity with message brokers (HiveMQ, EMQX, Mosquitto, or similar)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication skills - able to translate between IT and OT stakeholders
- Self-motivated with ability to work independently on-site
- Documentation skills for technical specifications and procedures
- Collaborative mindset for cross-functional team environments
