About The Position

Quantum Space is redefining mobility and autonomy in cislunar and geostationary space. Our Ranger spacecraft deliver high delta-V and on-orbit maneuverability that enable customers to access, operate, and persist in orbits previously out of reach. We’re building the infrastructure, vehicles, and operational expertise that connect and protect assets across the Earth–Moon system. We are seeking an experienced Configuration Management Lead to own and mature configuration control across the Ranger Prime program. You will establish and enforce disciplined configuration management practices across hardware, software, and documentation, ensuring traceability, change control, and data integrity from early development through flight and operations. This role is critical to maintaining mission readiness, program execution velocity, and flight reliability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in configuration management, systems engineering, or program execution within aerospace or complex hardware programs.
  • Direct experience managing configuration for spacecraft, satellites, launch vehicles, or other safety-critical systems.
  • Strong working knowledge of configuration control principles across hardware, software, and documentation.
  • Experience leading CCBs and managing technical change processes in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Familiarity with requirements management and verification workflows.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, bills of material, and technical baselines.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and follow-through in high-tempo programs.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, including technical documentation and executive-level status reporting.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance.
  • To comply with U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including ITAR, applicants must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual per 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting flight programs through launch and on-orbit operations.
  • Hands-on exposure to spacecraft manufacturing, integration, or test environments.
  • Experience with configuration management and PLM tools (e.g., Windchill, Arena, Jira, Git-based workflows).
  • Familiarity with aerospace standards and best practices (NASA, DoD, or equivalent).
  • Experience working in small, fast-paced spacecraft or advanced hardware startups.
  • Background in systems engineering, I&T, or mission operations.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and lead configuration management processes for the Ranger Prime spacecraft program across the full lifecycle.
  • Own configuration identification, change control, status accounting, and configuration audits for flight and ground systems.
  • Chair and manage Configuration Control Boards (CCBs), including change evaluation, impact analysis, and approval workflows.
  • Maintain authoritative configuration baselines for hardware, software, drawings, requirements, and test artifacts.
  • Ensure end-to-end traceability between requirements, design, manufacturing, test, and as-built / as-flown configurations.
  • Partner closely with systems engineering, I&T, manufacturing, software, and mission operations teams to enable rapid but controlled iteration.
  • Support flight readiness reviews, test readiness reviews, and anomaly resolution with accurate configuration data.
  • Develop and maintain CM plans, procedures, and work instructions aligned with program and customer requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement of CM tools, workflows, and automation to support a fast-moving spacecraft development environment.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary, equity, and comprehensive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, generous leave, HSA, 401(k) matching, and equity sharing.
  • Ownership – Define and lead configuration management for Ranger Prime, owning the integrity of what we build and fly.
  • Impact – Directly influence mission success by ensuring the right hardware and software fly, every time.
  • Velocity with Discipline – Enable rapid development without sacrificing control or traceability.
  • Growth – Expand your leadership scope while working across engineering, manufacturing, and flight operations.
