About The Position

We need a CMDB/Discovery Consultant at the New York City Department of Social Services (DSS). DSS enhances the quality of life for all New Yorkers by providing temporary assistance to eligible individuals and families with social service and economic needs, supported by IT Services (ITS) which operates the critical technology infrastructure behind the agency’s programs. DSS is currently executing a large-scale Data Center Co-location and Migration Project to consolidate multiple data centers into a new facility at 11 MetroTech in Brooklyn, replacing end-of-life infrastructure and mitigating risk of service disruption to agency operations. In this role, you will audit and validate existing CMDB records for servers, storage, network devices, and applications, map dependencies between infrastructure components, set up automated discovery for post-move validation, and ensure configuration items reflect the new data center environment post-move. Requirements

  • Working knowledge of ServiceNow CMDB architecture, including CI classes, relationships, and data models
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow Discovery (MID Server, probes, sensors, patterns)
  • Understanding of IT infrastructure components: servers, storage, network devices, and application tiers
  • Ability to perform data audits and reconcile discovered data against existing CMDB records
  • Basic understanding of dependency mapping and infrastructure topology
  • Familiarity with ITIL concepts related to Configuration Management
  • 1-2 years of experience with ServiceNow CMDB administration or configuration
  • Hands-on exposure to ServiceNow Discovery in a lab or production environment
  • Experience conducting data validation or audit activities in an ITSM context
  • Familiarity with data center infrastructure concepts (physical or virtual environments)

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field – preferred
