About The Position

As a Configuration Engineer within Google Technical Operations, you will join the team responsible for designing and delivering efficient and capable system configurations to Google’s data center fleet. You will unleash your significant talents to collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver configuration engineering designs. This includes working with stakeholders and customers to ensure that we deliver well-engineered compute permutations. You will help the product teams deliver consistent results while improving process transparency and predictability. To be successful in this role, you must have problem solving skills and demonstrate the ability to apply new technologies to designs. You will become a subject matter expert on the incumbent process and data structures. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in manufacturing or compute architectures.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree or PhD in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Materials, or a related engineering field.
  • Experience setting up manufacturing assembly processes, driving product launches and assembly process optimization within manufacturing operations.
  • Experience in technical leadership, project management, and executive communication.

Responsibilities

  • Design and create system-level deployment configurations for Machine Learning (ML) Pod assemblies based on customer and technical infrastructure requirements.
  • Create required design documentation (BoMs, payload layouts, wiring diagrams) for approved production definitions for ML Pod systems.
  • Provide technical expertise and system-level guidance to internal design and development teams to ensure deployment of optimized configurations.
  • Participate in and contribute to cross-functional transformation efforts as pertinent to configuration engineering processes and deliverables.
  • Provide engineering and manufacturing guidance to our integration supply chain partners, as it pertains to system configuration and installation.
