The Configuration Engineer will establish and maintain configuration baselines across on-premises infrastructure, virtualized environments, cloud services, and supporting network systems. This role supports engineering and operations teams by ensuring disciplined configuration management, maintaining traceability between requirements and deployed systems, and enabling repeatable builds and deployments through modern configuration management toolchains. The Configuration Engineer plays a key role in maintaining system integrity, preventing configuration drift, and supporting compliant system updates without disrupting mission operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of engineering processes and configuration management methodologies.
  • Active Top Secret / SCI clearance.
  • Ability and willingness to travel 20-40%, including conducting site surveys and supporting installation or maintenance activities.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting OCONUS or globally distributed system deployments.
  • Experience developing workflow processes, configuration documentation, and operational procedures.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development, implementation, and enforcement of configuration management processes across a global system environment.
  • Establish, control, and maintain configuration baselines for bare metal, virtualized, and cloud-based systems.
  • Maintain configuration standards for systems, environments, and country/site-specific deployments.
  • Support configuration control boards (CCB), change management processes, and release readiness activities.
  • Maintain configuration management toolchains and repositories, including GitLab, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code solutions where applicable.
  • Ensure traceability between system requirements, engineering artifacts, and deployed configurations.
  • Conduct configuration audits and automated checks to prevent configuration drift and ensure compliance with standards.
  • Maintain configuration documentation, version histories, and system "as-built" records.
  • Coordinate with engineering, operations, cybersecurity, and field teams to support compliant system changes and deployments.
  • Assist with system installation, maintenance activities, and site surveys at operational locations as required.
