Conduit/Gas Laborer – Underground Utility Construction
About The Position
Position Overview Diamond’s Management Group, Inc. is seeking dependable and hard-working Gas Laborers to support underground gas utility operations. This role is essential to keeping crews productive, maintaining safe job sites, and ensuring work is completed efficiently. This is a hands-on field position requiring physical labor, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to safety. Key Responsibilities Field Support & Installation Assist with installation of natural gas piping systems (plastic and steel) Support trenching, digging, and backfilling operations Hand-dig around existing utilities to expose lines safely Load, unload, and move materials, tools, and equipment Assist pipefitters and foremen with daily tasks and job setup Jobsite Preparation & Maintenance Set up and maintain safe, organized work zones Place and remove traffic control devices (cones, barrels, signage) Clean and maintain tools, equipment, and jobsite areas Assist with site restoration (stone, asphalt prep, cleanup) Safety & Compliance (Non-Negotiable) Follow all OSHA, VDOT, and company safety standards Comply with 811/Dig Safe requirements before excavation Use proper PPE at all times Identify and report hazards to supervisors immediately Participate in daily tailgate safety meetings Team Support Take direction from foremen and crew leaders Work efficiently as part of a team to meet production goals Maintain a positive, reliable, and professional attitude on job sites
Requirements
- Previous construction or labor experience preferred (utility experience a plus)
- Ability to perform physical labor (lifting, digging, standing for long periods)
- Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Strong work ethic and reliability
- Valid Driver’s License preferred
- Show up on time, ready to work
- Follow direction and work safely at all times
- Support the crew—no shortcuts, no excuses
- Take pride in doing the job right the first time
Nice To Haves
- Experience in underground utilities or gas work
- OSHA 10 certification
- Experience with hand tools and small equipment
- Traffic control experience
