About The Position

ENGIE North America is seeking a highly skilled and motivated CMS Engineer to join our Performance & Reliability team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the reliability and performance of our wind turbine fleet through advanced condition monitoring techniques. You will be responsible for analyzing data from monitoring systems for key drivetrain components, including gearboxes, generators, and main bearings. Reporting to the Director of Performance Analytics, your primary duties encompass:

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, math or equivalent certification, training, or military experience
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in condition monitoring, preferably in the wind energy sector
  • Experience with CMS platforms such as SkySpecs Horizon CMS, Bachman, Bentley Nevada, System 1, Brüel & Kjær, or similar
  • Experience with temperature and oil condition monitoring systems (e.g., oil particle counters, thermal sensors)
  • Ability to travel to North American sites
  • Maintain a high regard for personal safety, for the safety of company assets and employees, and the general public
  • Be an action-oriented, self-motivator individual who can lead a team, work independently, and has strong organizational and personal skills
  • Ability to systematically analyze complex problems, draw relevant conclusions, and implement appropriate solutions
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment, with a high degree of accuracy
  • Proficient in MS OFFICE, Excel, Word, Project Management systems

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and analyze vibration data from wind turbine components using platforms such as SkySpecs Horizon and other CMS tools.
  • Perform time and frequency domain analysis (e.g., FFT, envelope FFT, trend analysis) to detect early-stage mechanical faults such as bearing wear, gear tooth damage, misalignment, and imbalance.
  • Monitor and interpret temperature trends and lubricant analysis to detect thermal anomalies, lubrication degradation, abnormal wear and contamination trends.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Asset Management teams to interpret CMS data and support root cause analysis (RCA) and repair strategies.
  • Develop and refine alarm thresholds and diagnostic rules to improve early fault detection and reduce false positives.
  • Create and maintain a CMS Watch List to prioritize and categorize findings based on severity, risk level, and operational impact, ensuring timely follow-up and resolution.
  • Support the rollout and integration of new CMS technologies across the wind fleet, including pilot testing and validation.
  • Provide technical training and guidance to analysts and site personnel on CMS tools and best practices.
  • Contribute to the development of internal CMS procedures, documentation, and reporting standards.
