Position Overview The Plant Foreperson is responsible for safely controlling production and load out of materials produced in the batch plant, as well as for scheduling and ensuring timely delivery of supplies to the plant to perform duties in conjunction with dispatch loading operations.

Requirements

  • High School degree required
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively to customers or employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Proficient with Windows, Excel, & Word.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

Nice To Haves

  • One to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • Management experience preferred.
  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL) preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to pass ACI Level One (1) certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Enforce company safety rules and conduct safety meetings, including toolbox talks; ensure facilities are operating in a safe manner.
  • Accurately batch concrete load according to specifications. Read dispatch orders and understand required needs for production of materials.
  • Conduct batching operations in an efficient and safe manner while complying with all local, state and federal regulations, including but not limited to: OSHA, MSHA, DEP, etc.
  • Conduct batching functions in a professional manner and ensure compliance with job specifications and all applicable environmental and air quality regulations.
  • Print out invoice tickets on each truck/load and files. Give copy of invoice to truck drivers to obtain customer payment upon delivery of materials as needed.
  • Responsible for efficient working conditions of plant equipment and trucks. Performs maintenance to batch plant which includes greasing parts, sweeping, shoveling, performing equipment repairs, and cleaning.
  • Become proficient in all batching, dispatching & Quality Control Software.
  • Manage plant inventory, including daily, weekly, and monthly reporting.
  • Ability to understand appropriate uses of various mix designs.
  • Must complete daily clerical functions including daily paperwork to Division office (customer tickets/inbound materials/packing slips), daily bank deposits, etc.
  • Assist dispatch in scheduling drivers based on customer demand. Be familiar with the delivery areas and assist drivers in finding jobsites.
  • Identify and resolve regulatory, safety, personnel, and production problems, in a timely and effective manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times.
  • Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
  • Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
  • Report to the assigned job site ready to begin work at the designated start time.
  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Manual of Safety Practices and Procedures.
  • Strict adherence to Shelly Company policies and procedures as outlined in the Company Book of Policies.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
