Concrete Finisher - COMMERCIAL CONSTRUCTION
About The Position
SERD is hiring a Lightweight Insulating Concrete (LWIC) Finisher for our Roof Deck Division. A successful finisher has excellent attention to detail, can work safely, and communicate closely with the Crew. The Finisher reports to the Roof-Deck Foreman and levels the top surface of poured concrete on roofs of commercial buildings. You will assist in the placement of concrete poured and assist other team members by using various hand and power tools such as bull float, hand float/darby, screeds, float bars and others. You will also ensure that the work is completed correctly by leading the Crew in making corrections to the finish where needed. The company provides ample opportunity for advancement. Requirements
- Must be willing to submit to a preemployment drug screening to be considered for hire
- Experience working with concrete (approximately 2 years of experience)
- Familiarity with proper handling of materials and equipment
- Normal vision and hearing
- Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation
- Ability to assist with maintenance of equipment when needed
- Overtime as required
- Communication skills
- Travel to various job sites, 60% - 70% weekday overnight travel
- Must be able to individually lift, push, or pull materials & heavy equipment up to 100 pounds
- Must possess the ability to stand for long periods of time
- Must possess good manual dexterity to climb around equipment and job site
- Ability to work at heights as well as access heights from a ladder
- Employees may be required to perform other job-related tasks as requested by the Foreman
- Must enjoy working outside in all weather conditions
- Ability to work occasional weekend day(s)
- 90-day probationary period
Responsibilities
- Prep the equipment site to keep the area clean during pumping process
- Monitor the speed of concrete application while equipment is in use
- Check the finished product to make sure that it meets specifications
- Monitor how weather affects the various stages of concrete
- Recognize and report any unsafe jobsite condition
- Communicate clearly with ground and roof team members
- Exhibit leadership skills to Crew members
- Comply with all company policies and procedures
