About The Position

The Concrete Dipper works under the direction of the dip line supervisor. The dipper prepares and maintains automated dip cells for dipping clusters in ceramic slurry and stucco sanders; transfers clusters to and molds from dip rooms; prepares molds for wax melt out; mixes and maintains slurries; operates more than one automated dip cell; other miscellaneous related duties. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Prepares assembled wax patterns for dipping by washing clusters and inserting hanger T-bars in sprue plug or bolting to plates; loads wax clusters onto load station in prescribed order; interfaces with computer systems relevant cluster information and perform basic robot operation through its controller. Monitors automated dip process of robots. Maintains dip and sand levels, monitors temperatures and viscosities. Observes and reports immediately any equipment malfunctions or product damage; ascertains that all areas of cluster are covered properly by blowing away air bubbles, excess sand or brushing slurry into corners and crevices of cluster if required by procedure. Cleans dip room and equipment of ceramic buildup, sand and other debris. Prepares processed molds for the melt out and firing operations by removing from plate or T-bar manually, or by using a power unit; removes melt-out tips; places mold on mold cart. Mixes and maintains ceramic slurries by following standard procedures and instructions issued by the supervisor to mix and maintain powdered and dry ceramics and other materials; uses Zahn cup, hydrometer, thermometer, etc. to test slurries; reads temperature and humidity charts; records information in department records. Performs miscellaneous duties including but not limited to moving carts through work area; weighing clusters and molds; taking samples to process control lab; replenishing sand in sanders; reporting faulty processes and products to supervisor; keeping work area clean and orderly. Including but not limited to operating the following power equipment: fork lift, platform lift, barrel dumper, cowles mixer, diaphram pump, hoist, air ratchet, impact wrench, jack hammer.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • At least one year manufacturing experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedures
  • Ability to communicate production information both in writing and verbally
  • Ability to complete required production reports and SPC charts
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Regular attendance and the ability to work weekday and weekend overtime
  • Ability to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk and/or hear
  • Ability to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Ability to sit
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds without lift assist
