About The Position

GENERAL PURPOSE: The concessions staff is responsible for operating concession stands during youth sports leagues, tournaments, and other recreational events. This front-line customer service role ensures participants, spectators, and families receive quick, friendly service while maintaining high standards of food safety, cleanliness, and inventory control. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following duties ARE NOT intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed by all employees in this classification, only a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 16 years old
  • High school diploma or GED (or currently enrolled)
  • Basic math skills and comfort using POS systems
  • Reliable transportation and flexible availability (evenings, weekends, holidays)
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions when required
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Positive attitude and ability to stay calm under pressure
  • Attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness
  • Basic computer skills for inventory and sales tracking
  • Stand for extended periods (up to 6–8 hours)
  • Lift and carry up to 20 lbs (cases of soda, popcorn bags, etc.)
  • Reach, bend, and move quickly in tight spaces
  • Work in warm or cold environments (grills, freezers, outdoor stands)

Nice To Haves

  • Previous customer service or food service experience is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Greet customers and take orders accurately in a fast-paced environment
  • Prepare and serve food and beverage items (hot dogs, popcorn, nachos, sodas, candy, bottled water, etc.)
  • Operate cash registers/POS systems, handle cash and card transactions, and balance drawers at end of shift
  • Maintain proper food temperatures, follow all health department guidelines, and hold required food handler certification
  • Keep concession areas clean, organized, and fully stocked throughout each shift
  • Perform opening and closing procedures (setup, inventory counts, cleaning, and securing the stand)
  • Monitor and report low stock levels or equipment issues to the supervisor
  • Provide excellent customer service and resolve minor complaints professionally
  • Assist with special promotions, fundraising events, or themed concession nights
  • Follow all safety protocols, including proper lifting techniques and emergency procedures
