About The Position

The Des Plaines Park District, established in 1919, features more than 50 parks and facilities. As an Illinois Distinguished Accredited Agency, we service a culturally diverse and growing community with hundreds of affordable recreational and educational programs, classes, and events for kids, teens, adults, and families each season. BASIC FUNCTION
Concession Attendant stocks supplies, prepare food items and ensures a clean concession environment.

Requirements

• Some High School education
• No prior work experience required.
• 16 years of age or older
• Food Handler Training Certificate required following employment.

Nice To Haves

• Food handling and preparation experience recommended.
• First Aid, CPR and AED certifications preferred

Responsibilities

• Prepare and display concession food, maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety.
• Prepare and keep an adequate supply of food available.
• Operate all food preparation equipment safely and efficiently.
• Responsible for cleaning food preparation equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness of concession building and outside grounds. Including facility sanitation.
• Empty garbage cans in a timely fashion and pick up trash/debris throughout picnic & concession area.
• Demonstrate and promote positive guest relations and exceptional customer service.
• Work as a team with entire staff.
• Report all equipment problems to Supervisor.
• Inform Supervisor of depleting food, paper, and cleaning supplies.
• Ability to work flexible shifts including evening and weekend hours and July 4th.
• Assist the Group Reservation Coordinator as needed.
• Answer all guest questions and concerns.
• Monitor activity in entry area and parking lot, when needed.
• Adhere to all safety policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Manual and Crisis Manual
• Direct patrons in the event of an emergency, such as fire, severe weather
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
