Requirements

  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
  • Education: Associate's Degree from an accredited college or Vocational/Technical degree with a training emphasis in Computer Science, Information Technology, and/or Computer Information Systems or in a closely related field.
  • Experience: At least three (3) years' previous experience and/or training involving computer networking, systems, and repair; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Licenses and/or Certifications: a valid driver's license is required
  • Knowledge of computer system cabling, computer hardware and computer software, facility utilities.
  • Knowledge of computer system operations, as well as some knowledge of apple devices, printers and scanners, as well as virtual machines.
  • Knowledge of computer software data structures, and network administration.
  • Skill in installing computer hardware and software.
  • Skill in following directions and identifying and solving problems.
  • Ability to understand simple oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to listen to customers, to convey information to the customer in a plain and common descriptive manner.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors and fellow employees.
  • Ability to utilize software and hardware manuals, networking manuals, technology publications, and the Internet.
  • Ability to perform semi-skilled coordinated movements, such as utilizing hand tools and diagnostic instruments for repairing computers.
  • Must satisfactorily complete a criminal background check and driving record check prior to commencing employment.

Responsibilities

  • Provides user support and assists in network administration for individual and interconnected computer installations, which include installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and user instructions.
  • Diagnoses and repairs all computer equipment and peripherals including in-house diagnostics and repair and coordination or repair by third party vendors.
  • Provides user support for daily computer usage including instruction of use of PCs, networking, application software, peripherals and equipment.
  • Maintain upgrades for all system components and application software as needed.
  • Provide support for specialized applications on Desktop (Adobe Applications, Microsoft Office Suites, and other proprietary software).
  • Provide user management with the direction of the Systems Administrators for Active Directory, Exchange Online, and other applications with user information.
  • Design and maintain a cohesive helpdesk process for efficient trouble ticket management.
  • Design, implement and support a preventative maintenance plan for the desktops including OS, applications, and print drivers.
  • Monitor trends in computer technology and recommends upgrades or conversions to new technology.
  • Purchases essential P.C. parts and equipment as needed, as approved by the Technology Operations Supervisor.
  • Provide timely and accurate feedback reporting on goals.
  • Support audio/visual (A/V) needs for Town Council meetings and other Town meetings.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to provide after-hours support as needed.
  • Monitors equipment warranties and third-party contracts.
  • Performs related duties and responsibilities as required.
