About The Position

The purpose of this classification is to perform a lead role in managing the computer systems of a large public safety division to ensure continuous, mission-critical operation

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in computer science or another field related to the job
Six (6) years of related information technology experience, in which at least three (3) of those years must be in a related supervisory/management capacity
Additional years of related education may substitute for years of experience
Additional years of related experience may substitute for years of education
There are no substitutes for the required supervisory/management experience
All positions require drug testing, background check and polygraph before employment and may require a post-job offer physical as stated in Ordinances 21-14(b), 22-13 and 23-16

Responsibilities

Evaluates current technologies/systems and develops, tests, installs, and/or implements new or improved systems
Manages and monitors computer and/or mobile data communication systems, software and networks; performs maintenance/updates as needed
Performs duties related to assigned division such as developing and maintaining GIS data or managing video/camera security
Develops and maintains professional working relationships with internal and external customers and service providers
Performs other administrative duties such as maintaining databases, creating reports, and documentation
May supervise the work of subordinates
Performs related work as assigned
