About The Position

Join our talented and internationally recognized team in developing advanced computer science methods and tools at the nexus of scientific data management, scientific workflows, and AI. Collaborate closely in multidisciplinary teams to achieve groundbreaking computer science and domain science objectives. Drive innovation by adapting and incorporating newly discovered techniques into effective and widely-used software tools. Serve as technical lead on cutting-edge R&D projects, including engaging with senior external personnel and program management to achieve project goals. Key Responsibilities: Applies advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts to develop innovative solutions in areas such as advanced computing, scientific workflows and data management, and AI for science. Assists in software development, including the design, maintenance, and support high-quality software systems. Collaborates effectively with industry partners, other laboratories, and academic institutions to solve complex scientific problems requiring multidisciplinary teams. Provides technical leadership on projects, including planning future projects and guiding ongoing research and development efforts. Position Requirements Extensive knowledge in solving large-scale computational and/or data-centric problems across various scientific disciplines and system architectures. Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment and abstract specific problems into generalizable solutions. Significant experience in interdisciplinary research involving collaboration with discipline scientists, computer scientists, and mathematicians. Proven ability to lead projects, develop strategic plans, and contribute to the advancement of research and development initiatives. Demonstrated familiarity with modern software development and sustainment methodologies and tools. RD4: Bachelor’s degree and 12+ years of experience, or a Master’s degree and 7+ years of experience, or a Doctorate and 6+ years of experience, or equivalent.
