About The Position

SRI Education, a research division of SRI International, has been reducing barriers and optimizing outcomes for students of all ages and backgrounds through technical assistance, research, and evaluation of education policies, programs, and interventions, with a focus on learners who have been traditionally underserved. Our 160 researchers are leaders in research on STEM and computer science, digital learning and technology policy, literacy and language arts education, teaching quality, school reform, behavior, supporting students with disabilities, and early learning. We also have a growing portfolio of work on the use of AI in education. To support the development of AI-supported tools for students and educators, we are looking for a Data Science/Computer Science Intern who will contribute to their design, testing, and refining. We are seeking a skilled and innovative data scientist dedicated to advancing AI- supported educational tools. In this role, the candidate will utilize their expertise in data analysis, machine learning, AI modeling, and statistical modeling to support the development of new and innovative educational tools, approaches, and platforms. The candidate will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to advance work in design and implementation of data-driven strategies to personalize teaching and learning experiences, improve student outcomes, and inform instructional decision-making. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data science, proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, and a passion for leveraging data to drive innovation in education. The Intern can work fully remotely, or if local to our Menlo Park office could work a hybrid schedule.
