About The Position

Apply your interest in computer programming, data analysis, and geographic information systems (GIS) to projects on tribal lands this summer. The Computer Science Data Analyst Intern is part of Sealaska's Managed Business Solutions (MBS) team working on the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) Division of Water and Power. As you work alongside GIS and programming professionals, you will be introduced to a career in GIS analysis and learn key components of a GIS program. The primary initiative you will be supporting during this internship is development of a computer-based water ticketing program to replace handwritten tickets at 17 Irrigation Projects in the Western United States. Water tickets will go through a lifecycle in ArcGIS Survey123 from customer request to scheduling/canal capacity analysis and finally logging water deliveries volume to farmers. Depending on your interests and skills, the team can supply additional projects during the internship. This internship can be accomplished remotely or at the BIA Office of Trust Services in Lakewood, CO. Throughout the summer, you will visit at least one Native American reservation supported by the team's efforts.
