About The Position

This position involves producing computerized tomographic scanner radiographs of specific areas, adhering to established policies and procedures, at a technical level that typically requires general supervision. The role also encompasses lead duties, including assisting in quality control and performance improvement activities, contributing to performance feedback and hiring decisions, ensuring quality and timeliness standards are met, evaluating and testing new procedures/processes, orienting and training new staff, problem-solving, providing subject matter expertise and technical leadership, and managing workflow and distribution of work. Additionally, the lead assists in ensuring compliance with all regulatory and agency requirements, laws, and statutes pertaining to the department's operation.

Requirements

  • Certified as a Computed Tomography Technologist
  • If not CT Certified, cross training from another ARRT modality to become CT Certified within 12 months.
  • Graduation from an AMA-approved school of radiology technology
  • Certified in general radiologic technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT).
  • Current BLS certification from American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), or Canadian equivalent, is required before start date and valid at least 60 days beyond start date.
  • Certified as CT Technologist

Responsibilities

  • Obtains patient history, explains standard procedures, and addresses patient concerns to foster a sense of comfort and confidence to patients and ensure the needs of individual patients are met.
  • Operates and maintains all assigned imaging department equipment including but not limited to tomography scanner equipment.
  • In addition to conducting scans, prepares patients for these diagnostic procedures by explaining the process and positioning patients to correctly capture the images requested by a physician.
  • Properly identifies, prepares and/or administers medications that are within the technologist’s scope of practice as prescribed by a licensed independent practitioner.
  • Completes quality assurance processes and practices radiation safety in order to reduce exposure to patients, staff and self.
  • Maintains all required documentation, logs, charts, forms and records in paper and electronic formats.
  • Maintains an adequate supply of all consumables to perform quality testing.
  • Performs all routine daily, weekly, monthly, and periodic maintenance and function checks following established protocol for all imaging equipment.
  • May assist other areas of radiology as assigned.
  • Performs other related duties as required and directed.
  • Assists in quality control and performance improvement activities.
  • Contributes to performance feedback, hiring decisions.
  • Ensures standards are met (quality, timeliness, customer service, etc.).
  • Evaluates and tests new procedures/processes.
  • Orients and/or trains new staff.
  • Problem solving capabilities.
  • Subject matter expert/technical leadership.
  • Work flow/distribution of work.
  • Assists in assuring compliance with all regulatory and other agency requirements, laws, and statutes pertaining to the operation of the department.
