This position performs diagnostic computed tomography (CT) scan images, produces quality CT exam images, and exercises professional judgment in the performance of procedures. The CT Technologist provides for patient care, initiates life support measures as necessary, and interacts effectively with patients, physicians, family members, department staff, and healthcare workers. They possess the skills and knowledge to operate CT equipment to produce quality CT scans, perform related procedures and protocols, and have the ability to learn and utilize new technology as well as orient new employees. The role involves professionally obtaining information from patients or their responsible parties to further improve their personalized treatment and care, developing an understanding of the patient's physical and emotional status, and working well with all age groups. For Sanford Rural Network Facilities, job responsibilities may expand to include on-call rotation nights, weekends, and holidays, performing diagnostic radiology procedures, basic diagnostic radiology tasks, general radiology protocols, mobile imaging, electrocardiogram (EKG), cardiac monitor placement, and dual energy x-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) procedures.
