About The Position

Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is dedicated to transforming the health care experience and providing access to world-class health care in America’s heartland. This position performs diagnostic computed tomography (CT) scan images, produces quality CT exam images, and exercises professional judgment in the performance of procedures. The CT Technologist provides for patient care, initiates life support measures as necessary, and interacts effectively with patients, physicians, family members, department staff, and healthcare workers. They possess the skills and knowledge to operate CT equipment to produce quality CT scans, perform related procedures and protocols, and have the ability to learn and utilize new technology as well as orient new employees. The role involves professionally obtaining information from patients or their responsible parties to further improve their personalized treatment and care, developing an understanding of the patient's physical and emotional status, and working well with all age groups. For Sanford Rural Network Facilities, job responsibilities may expand to include on-call rotation nights, weekends, and holidays, performing diagnostic radiology procedures, basic diagnostic radiology tasks, general radiology protocols, mobile imaging, electrocardiogram (EKG), cardiac monitor placement, and dual energy x-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) procedures.

Requirements

  • Satisfactory completion of formal Radiologic Technology training in an American Medical Association (AMA) approved school or Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JCERT) accredited program
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification at the time of hire
  • If working in North Dakota and performing medical imaging or radiation therapy procedures, licensure through the North Dakota Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy (NDMIRT) Board is required
  • If working in Aberdeen, South Dakota (SD), CT certification is required within 24 months of hire
  • In the state of Iowa, all technologists must have a permit to practice through the Iowa Department of Public Health in order to practice in the state of Iowa
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within six weeks of employment and re-certification as necessary
  • I.V. certification within six weeks of employment and re-certification as necessary

Nice To Haves

  • Computerized Tomography (CT) training or experience
  • CT certification obtained within two years (Per Diagnostic Imaging Center of Excellence (DICOE) and American College of Radiology (ACR) accreditation requirements)
