About The Position

Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is dedicated to transforming the health care experience and providing access to world-class health care in America’s heartland. This position involves performing diagnostic computed tomography (CT) scan images, producing quality CT exam images, and exercising professional judgment in procedures. The role includes providing patient care, initiating life support measures as necessary, and interacting effectively with patients, physicians, family members, department staff, and other healthcare workers. The technologist must be skilled in operating CT equipment, performing related procedures and protocols, and be able to learn and utilize new technology, as well as orient new employees. A key aspect is professionally obtaining information from patients to improve personalized treatment and care, and developing an understanding of the patient's physical and emotional status, working well with all age groups. For Sanford Rural Network Facilities, job responsibilities may expand to include on-call rotation nights, weekends, and holidays, performing diagnostic radiology procedures, basic diagnostic radiology tasks, and potentially mobile imaging, electrocardiogram (EKG), cardiac monitor placement, and dual energy x-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) procedures.

Requirements

  • Satisfactory completion of formal Radiologic Technology training in an American Medical Association (AMA) approved school or Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JCERT) accredited program
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification at the time of hire
  • If working in North Dakota and performing medical imaging or radiation therapy procedures, licensure through the North Dakota Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy (NDMIRT) Board is required
  • If working in Aberdeen, South Dakota (SD), CT certification is required within 24 months of hire
  • In the state of Iowa, all technologists must have a permit to practice through the Iowa Department of Public Health in order to practice in the state of Iowa
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and I.V. certification within six weeks of employment and re-certification as necessary

Nice To Haves

  • Computerized Tomography (CT) training or experience preferred
  • CT certification obtained within two years is preferred (Per Diagnostic Imaging Center of Excellence (DICOE) and American College of Radiology (ACR) accreditation requirements)

  • Performs diagnostic computed tomography (CT) scan images
  • Produces quality computed tomography exam images and exercise professional judgment in the performance of procedures
  • Provides for patient care and initiates life support measure as necessary
  • Interacts effectively with patients, physicians, family members, department staff, and healthcare workers
  • Possesses the skills and knowledge to operate CT equipment to produce quality CT scans as well as the ability to perform related procedures and protocols
  • Has the ability to learn and utilize new technology
  • Orient new employees
  • Possesses the ability to professionally obtain information from patients or their responsible parties to further improve their personalized treatment and care
  • Works to develop an understanding of the patient's physical and emotional status
  • Works well with all age groups
  • Perform diagnostic radiology procedures (may be expanded based on facility needs)
  • Perform basic diagnostic radiology tasks and aware of general radiology protocols (may be expanded based on facility needs)
  • May perform mobile imaging, electrocardiogram (EKG), cardiac monitor placement, and dual energy x-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) procedures (may be expanded based on facility needs)
  • On-call rotation nights, weekends, and holidays (may be expanded based on facility needs)
