About The Position

The Composite Technician Level 2 will lead various composite fabrication processes, including filament winding, hand layup, and resin transfer molding. The role involves working with complex machinery and handling chemicals such as epoxies and curing agents. This position requires excellent situational awareness and the ability to lead a team of fabricators. On-the-job training will be provided where necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a dynamic team environment, multitask, and learn product-required processes utilizing various machine types with detailed operations.
  • Safely handle and mix chemicals such as acetone, solvents, epoxy, and alcohols with formal training.
  • Work in close proximity to powerful magnets and magnetic fields.
  • Read, interpret, and work from drawings with minimal supervision.
  • Set up and operate machines such as manual mill, manual lathe, bandsaws, curing ovens, welders, and other equipment.
  • Fixture as required to maintain tolerance requirements of the drawings.
  • Operate manual equipment including lathes and mills.
  • Produce and maintain all parts characteristics according to specifications and inspect tools for excessive wear.
  • Fit and assemble precision parts and inspect product samples for quality acceptance.
  • Perform minor preventative maintenance and report unusual conditions, safety issues, or defective material.
  • Adhere to safety standards and maintain situational awareness to protect self, personnel, and facility.
  • Support investigations of highly complex products and provide support to other engineering disciplines.
  • Perform work within quality standards and by deadlines.
  • Able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
