About The Position

Job Description: The Prototype Composite Technician position foculs on producing quality test panels, one offs, 000/skin parts, and other prototype Lamination projects. Creates and installs parts according to specifications in support of a product within the prototyping stage. This role requires being familiar with every sequence of the composite products and tests the performance of the product to meet specific standards.

Requirements

  • Strong mechanical skills required.
  • Ability to proficiently use common hand tools and specialty tools such as hand saws, sanding, respraying, for modifications.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and recommend adjustments.
  • Stronge attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of general material handling procedures for composite materials such as mold release application, resin mixing/ratio math, industrial hygiene, safe disposal,etc.
  • Ability to keep the work area clean and orderly.
  • Ability to follow all safety requirements and guidelines.
  • Ability to work well with the team to complete required tasks.
  • Ability to take direction from various leaders and adapt to change quickly.
  • Have the ability to work well under pressure.
  • Must be flexible to change daily scheduled hours to work with Production’s requirements as needed.
  • Required to sign and abide by the Nautique Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) to ensure the protection of the new product for the company.
  • High School degree or equivalent.
  • 1 to 3 years experience in manufacturing preferred.
  • Composites experience required.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Must be a licensed driver with a good driving record (subject to MVR).
  • Must be able to work in a non-climate-controlled environment where ambient air temperature can exceed outside air temperature occasionally.
  • Must be able to bend at the waist and knees and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds when necessary.
  • This is a safety-sensitive position.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hand to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk, and hear.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree or technical degree preferred.
  • Experience driving a Forklift preferred.
  • Experience with tooling, infusion.

Responsibilities

  • Create composite fabrication of Infusi & vacuum bagging, LMRT, open molding and Gelcoat.
  • Sprays gel coat onto test parts.
  • Performs quality tests on specific prototype parts.
  • Conducts performance tests on prototypes during all stages.
  • Takes part in the start to finish of the manufacturing methods and processes for the production.
  • Keep the work area clean and orderly.
  • Follow instructions of the supervisor.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
  • Must comply with all OSHA and safety procedures.
