About The Position

Located in Woodland, WA, LifePort is the leading manufacturer of medical transportation and interior products as well as ballistic armor protection systems for fixed and rotary wing aircraft. From large multi-aircraft projects to small custom projects, LifePort supplies the industry’s largest aerospace OEMs and end users with the finest aviation solutions today. Position Overview: Performs assembly and bonding of composite materials to fabricate parts and/or for repair applications using varied products and processes.

Requirements

  • Work independently and possess a high level of self-motivation and initiative
  • Coachable attitude that is willing to learn new skills
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2-5 years of composite layup experience
  • This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.14 is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Aerospace experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Be able to work safely on a team and contribute to the manufacturing process
  • Must be able to read and strictly adhere to written work instructions and detailed processes
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, manuals, specifications, job orders, planning documents and engineering drawings
  • Be familiar with composite materials like fiberglass, carbon fiber, epoxy and core material
  • Be familiar with FOD requirements and aerospace manufacturing practices
  • Be able to perform composite part manufacturing using multiple processes like prepreg, vacuum infusion, and wet layups
  • Be able to perform bonding of components and assemblies
  • Use adhesives and chemicals for bonding
  • Manufacture parts using work instruction and drawings
  • Work to engineering, quality and customer specifications
  • Lay out and measure parts to achieve 0.030” tolerance
  • Trim, drill, and grind composite parts using hand tools like hand router, air drill, palm sander
  • Be able to perform inspection of parts to identify non-conforming parts
  • Use filling and fairing compounds to achieve required surface quality
  • Be able to install inserts and fasteners in components
  • Perform vacuum bagging for oven and autoclave cure parts
  • Be able to operate curing equipment like presses, autoclaves and ovens
  • Be willing and able to train new technicians using established company procedures
