About The Position

Under direct supervision, the Composite Operator Level I (V‑22 Bell) performs routine and repetitive manufacturing operations involved in the fabrication, layup, wrapping, bonding, trimming, and assembly of composite parts and assemblies for the V‑22 aircraft program. This position supports higher‑level operators by preparing materials, assisting with composite processes, and performing standard production tasks in accordance with approved work instructions, program requirements, and aerospace quality standards. This is an entry‑level position and training would be provided.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 0-1 Years’ experience in manufacturing production or assembly
  • Must be a U.S. Person per ITAR regulations to comply with export compliance requirements, with ability to obtain a Department of Defense security clearance if needed
  • Ability to follow written and verbal work instructions precisely
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with hand tools
  • Good manual dexterity and hand‑eye coordination
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks while maintaining accuracy
  • Basic math skills for measurements and material handling
  • Ability to work effectively in a team‑oriented manufacturing environment
  • Ability to stand, bend, reach, and perform repetitive hand motions for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and carry materials up to 25–35 lbs.
  • Ability to safely perform work in confined or restricted spaces including aircraft structures, subassemblies, tooling, and enclosed composite components
  • Perform composite layup, bonding, trimming, inspection, or assembly tasks while working in limited‑access areas that may restrict movement, visibility, or body positioning
  • Ability to work in awkward positions for extended periods, including kneeling, crouching, bending, reaching, or working overhead
  • Comply with all confined space awareness entry required training, safety procedures, and signage requirements as defined by site EHS and program standards
  • Ability to maintain situational awareness and follow communication protocols while working in enclosed or restricted environments
  • Properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE), ventilation equipment, and monitoring devices when working in confined and limited‑access spaces
  • Immediately report unsafe conditions, physical discomfort, or hazards encountered while working in confined spaces to supervision

  • Experience in composite manufacturing, aerospace assembly, or a regulated production environment is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Assist Level II and senior composite operators in the fabrication, layup, wrap, bond, or assembly of composite parts and subassemblies for the V‑22 Bell program
  • Perform basic composite tasks such as material placement, ply application, consolidation, and part handling according to work instructions
  • Prepare tools, molds, mandrels, and fixtures prior to composite operations
  • Assist with vacuum bagging, debulking, and preparation of composite parts for cure
  • Prepare composite materials by thawing, cutting, kitting, and staging material per process requirements
  • Handle composite materials, adhesives, resins, and consumables to prevent contamination, damage, or out‑time violations
  • Apply release agents, films, tapes, peel ply, breather, and other consumables as required
  • Maintain material identification and traceability in compliance with V‑22 program requirements
  • Follow detailed work instructions, blueprints, ply books, and visual aids
  • Perform basic visual inspections of composite parts for defects such as wrinkles, gaps, foreign object debris (FOD), or misalignment
  • Accurately complete production documentation, shop travelers, and electronic records
  • Report quality issues, defects, or process concerns to supervision or Quality personnel
  • Comply with all Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) policies and procedures
  • Properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and FOD‑free work area consistent with aerospace and Bell standards
  • Properly segregate and dispose of composite waste, chemicals, and consumables in accordance with company and regulatory requirements
  • Work effectively as part of a cross‑functional production team
  • Follow directions from supervisors and experienced operators
  • Participate in on‑the‑job training, cross‑training, and continuous improvement activities
  • Demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and a willingness to learn composite manufacturing skills
