About The Position

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Components Manager to oversee our inbound operations and lead a team of Components associates. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the efficient receipt, inspection, storage, issuance to Manufacturing Work Orders, and returns to storage of Components while maintaining high standards of accuracy, safety, and productivity within the warehouse. This role requires strong leadership skills, attention to detail, delegation in a multi-shift environment, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience in warehouse or plant operations, with at least 2-3 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, including receiving procedures, inventory management, pick tasks/delivery and quality control practices.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire team members to achieve high performance standards.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in using warehouse management systems (WMS), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and other inventory tracking software.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices in a warehouse environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Forklift certification and experience operating material handling equipment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor and hold accountable shift supervisors and leads. Provide guidance, training, and support to Components team associates in all shifts, ensuring that team members understand their roles and responsibilities and adhere to all established procedures, using designated systems. The following skillsets are part of the team, and mobilized through each shift for various tasks:
  • Forklift operator
  • Materials handler
  • Cycle counter
  • Receiving Operations: Accountability for the receiving process for all incoming shipments of Components (both Contract and Direct), including unloading trucks, verifying contents against shipping documents, and inspecting goods for damage or discrepancies, recording packing records and lot records in the Enterprise resource Planning (ERP) and Warehouse Management System (WMS).
  • Quality Control: Implement quality control procedures with the Quality Team to ensure that all received goods meet established standards and specifications.
  • Inventory Management: Accountability for the accurate recording and labeling of received items, including assigning locations within the warehouse, and updating inventory systems.
  • Materials issuance to production team: accountable for the Components team use of the company’s ERP and WMS systems to issue work order materials for all production requirement of components: including picking in racks, verifying contents against WO documents, and inspecting goods for lot-control discrepancies. This includes the management and coordination across shifts of two teams: product flows from rack-to-staging bin (forklift driver activity), and staging bin to production workstation (materials handler activity). As well, at the end of the production shift, it includes the return to racks of unused materials, and collaboration with the Quality team for transfer to Quarantine of defective components.
  • Cycle counts: Collaborate with the Quality and IT teams to ensure that only physical Components bins are active in the ERP and WMS. Count bins designated by the Quality team, daily, working with Quality to ensure that no Components bin remains uncounted within each 30 days rotation.
  • Compliance: Enforce safety protocols and best practices to maintain a safe working environment for all warehouse staff, including proper equipment usage, lifting techniques, and hazardous material handling. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, policies, and procedures governing operations, including customs regulations, management procedures, quality standards, safety guidelines, and company policies.
  • Communication: Maintain open lines of communication with other warehouse departments, as well as with suppliers and transportation carriers, to coordinate receiving activities and help provide information to resolve any issues or delays.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
  • WMS: Ensure accurate record-keeping of all team activities in the WMS and other apps and systems. Maintain receiving logs, audit inventory records, maintain components issuance logs. Provide daily End of Shift reports to the plant and corporate teams, and ad hoc reports as needed.
  • Time and attendance: Manage the time and attendance of staff, including presence, overtime, task allocation. Monitor the dashboards provided for KPI (see below) and suggest additions and improvements to dashboards.
  • Performance improvement:
  • Existing KPI: Monitor all department KPIs for team performance, productivity, and accuracy metrics, and take actions as needed to address improve performance, meet and exceed goals.
  • Search for maximum unit efficiency: propose and implement solutions to minimize unit labor and other operational costs. Analyze WMS, ERP and ADP datasets to find best practices and suggest improvements.
  • Evaluate OKR and KPI: evaluate OKR and KPI for relevance and calculation method accuracy. Propose improvements where necessary for adoption in the yearly operational performance cycles.
  • Improve processes: Identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency gains within the Components team and work area. Consult with adjacent teams in the workflow to understand their pain points and help resolve them. Collaborate with management to implement improvements.
  • Co-define collaboration methods to collaborate and integrate skillset with the Distribution team to occasionally flex labor pool to adapt to requirements of the activity.
