About The Position

The Component Engineer- High Density Liquid Cooling (In Rack) is responsible for the selection of mechanical, and/or electromechanical components used in Prototype construction. This role ensures components design engineering goals and that all material is organized, tracked and received into the Prototype material storage in a timely manner. Component Engineering will primarily support the North America new product development and Lab test teams, but will support Global HDLC teams when they require support for building, ordering and testing prototypes in North America region. This position will be based onsite at our Westerville, OH (Polaris) location.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred with 3+ years experience; or Associate's Degree with 7 plus years related experience
  • Attention to detail and documentation accuracy
  • Basic working knowledge of Bill of Materials, component specifications and mechanical concepts.
  • Ability to create BOM and parts tracking spreadsheets, outside ERP systems.
  • Data-entry systems familiarity & BOM Creation Experience – PLM and ERP systems like Oracle, Windchill, etc.
  • Good planning, organizing, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and operate in cross functional Global Development Teams.
  • Fluency in English
  • Ability to work in both office and industrial manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to work in fluctuating temperatures (approximately 60°F–95°F), stand or walk for extended periods, and wear required PPE.

Responsibilities

  • Engineering support and BOM organization
  • Collaborate with design engineering, and help manage Bill of Material creation and parts management for Prototype builds.
  • Track and ensure parts and materials are received and organized in the Prototype build area
  • Support Engineers placing Purchasing Requests to Procurement for Prototype build
  • Support DVT engineers placing Purchasing Requests to support lab testing.
  • Component Selection & Qualification
  • Support engineers with Evaluating and recommend components for new and existing product designs.
  • Approve components based on technical specifications, environmental performance, and reliability requirements.
  • Reliability & Compliance
  • Ensure components comply with applicable industry standards and regulations (e.g., UL, IEC, RoHS, REACH).
  • Documentation & Data Management
  • Maintain accurate component data within PLM, ERP, or component management systems.
  • Create and review component specifications, qualification reports, and engineering change documentation.
  • Support BOM reviews and design audits.
