About The Position

This role is critical in strengthening our compliance management system (CMS), supporting regulatory audits, and maintaining a culture of transparency and accountability across the organization. Position Summary The Compliance Specialist plays a vital role in ensuring regulatory compliance across all credit union operations. This position partners with cross-functional teams to interpret and implement financial regulations, mitigate compliance risk, and uphold governance standards. You'll help drive policy development, regulatory change management, and audit readiness while supporting a strong culture of compliance.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree preferred
  • 2-4 years of compliance experience in a financial institution or credit union
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements (NCUA, CFPB, BSA/AML, OFAC preferred)
  • Willingness to obtain the Credit Union Compliance Officer (CUCO) certification
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to interpret complex regulations and communicate clearly
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and regulatory adherence
  • Excellent interpersonal and cross-functional collaboration skill

Responsibilities

  • Regulatory Compliance & Change Management
  • Monitor and interpret federal and state banking laws (NCUA, CFPB, BSA/AML, etc.)
  • Update policies, procedures, and disclosures to maintain regulatory compliance
  • Manage compliance calendars and ensure timely regulatory filings and reporting
  • Maintain accurate compliance documentation and audit trails
  • Risk Assessment & Audit Support
  • Support internal audits, compliance reviews, and regulatory examinations
  • Conduct risk assessments to identify gaps and recommend corrective actions
  • Partner with leadership to strengthen internal controls and compliance frameworks
  • Training & Compliance Program Support
  • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) on compliance-related topics
  • Develop and deliver compliance training programs for employees
  • Collaborate with departments to embed compliance into daily workflows and operations
