About The Position

This position develops, monitors, and maintains HUD and Tax Credit and other regulatory occupancy compliance at the affordable housing communities under the supervision of the Senior Compliance Specialist and Director of Compliance. Perform file audits of resident initial certifications, re-certifications and/or interim reviews; Review and audit all related paperwork which includes income verifications, asset verifications, lease amendments, etc. Ensure all paperwork is accurate and complete. Supports around 20-25 Affordable Housing locations in Northern California Serve as the primary resource when staff needs a response to questions on policy, procedures, rules and regulations. Build up HGAH’s compliance capacity through clear communication, information sharing and mentoring of HGAH staff in all areas. Assists Administrators in preparing for Management Reviews Outstanding organizational skills and communication skills. Develop and maintain relationships with Executives and support staff of corporate office, CCRC and Affordable Housing Administrators, community staffs, persons from regulatory agencies such as HUD, CHFA, RHCP, housing authorities, contractors, vendors consultants, city and government officials

Requirements

  • 5+ years of prior experience in the management of rental housing
  • Affordable housing experience required
  • Knowledge of HUD & Tax credit occupancy regulations.
  • Experience with file auditing
  • Experience working with investors, auditors, and regulatory program agencies
  • Property management principles and practices with particular reference to government assisted and/or other assisted housing operations and administration
  • Operations, programs and problems, and resources available to resolve affordable housing problems.
  • Rules, regulations, laws and ordinances of various related government, agencies.
  • Valid driver’s license required

Nice To Haves

  • HUD & Tax Credit Occupancy Specialist or equivalent certification
  • COS or similar certification is preferred or the ability to obtain certification within 6 months of hire
