About The Position

The Compliance Specialist is part of a larger team that ensures RARC's and the UW-Madison research animal program’s compliance with various university and federal policies, regulations, and guidelines. This position will help compile regulatory documents, organize testing and training required by Environment, Health, and Safety, and assist with managing the accreditation process by AAALAC. The Compliance Specialist will also help with managing the RARC website, various emergency plans, animal program policies, and be involved with fulfilling obligations related to public records statutes. This position will also assist the Assistant Director with billing, when time permits. The work schedule is flexible and will be determined at the time of hire. This position is eligible for up to 60% remote work. Remote work requires an approved remote work agreement (RWA) agreement. An RWA requires successful candidates to possess their own high-speed internet and phone to perform the work on a university provided computer. Per University policy, transportation between home and assigned work location is not payable/reimbursable and will be at the expense of the employee.

Requirements

  • The successful candidate will be highly organized and be able to efficiently track and complete multiple projects concurrently.
  • Candidates must be able to communicate clearly, professionally and respectfully with people at all levels of the campus community.
  • Experience in the field of research compliance, such as human subjects or research animal, is preferred.
  • Experience with animal research is helpful, and research personnel with knowledge of IACUC protocols and lab animal work are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with the creation and the maintenance of manuals, communication materials, and other compliance materials in accordance with established laws and regulations
  • Collects, compiles, and organizes reports for a defined compliance program and communicates data to internal and external stakeholders when appropriate
  • Issues compliance notifications and provides education and resources to inquiring entities
