About The Position

FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE AND CONSUMER SERVICES DIVISION OF LICENSING OPEN COMPETITIVE OPPORTUNITY Receives, examines, and analyzes applications, fees, fingerprint cards, training documents and other related information to determine compliance with statutory requirements. This position must assure the applicant is in compliance with Florida and federal laws and regulations. Reviews reports, fingerprint analyses and other associated documents to determine the appropriate action relative to the continued processing of an application. Determines if an incomplete application requires a rejection of the application or if supplemental submissions can correct the errors or omissions. Prepares correspondence identifying problems for rejection of the application. Issues licenses or recommends denial of the application and prepares necessary documentation justifying denial. Performs appropriate data entry transaction to maintain records and statistics using a complex interactive computer database, specifically, the Electronic Document Management System (EDMS). The incumbent must have a thorough working knowledge of a variety of integrated software packages. Reviews scanned documents to ensure legibility before entry into the EDMS. Indexes electronic documents to ensure proper storage and efficient retrieval. Operates computer peripheral hardware for production and production control within the EDMS. Organizes the workflow of scanned documents to ensure appropriate distribution to designated staff and/or work units within the division. Composes correspondence in response to questions, problems or status inquiries from applicants, licensees, or the general public regarding the application process. Interfaces both verbally and in writing with applicants, licensees, law enforcement personnel and Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services investigators relative to licensing requirements and procedures. Provides applicants personal guidance regarding the application process. Provides assistance to the division’s legal staff, Bureau of Regulation and Enforcement and the general public. Performs other related duties as required.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or its equivalent and two (2) years of secretarial or clerical work experience.
  • College education from an accredited institution may be substituted at the rate of 30 semester or 45-quarter hours for each year of the required clerical work experience.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience which equals two (2) years can substitute for the above requirements.
  • Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective communication.
  • Ability to review data for accuracy and completeness.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Knowledge of basic computer operations.
  • Knowledge of Chapter 493 and section 790.06, FS.
