About The Position

Responsibilities Responsible for maintaining compliance with NJCAA regulations, athlete eligibility reviews, and monitoring of impermissible benefits. Supports the College’s commitment to integrity, accountability, and compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations Additional duties include ensuring compliance with federal, state, and college policies, procedures, and processes regarding Clery, Hazing and FOIA requests. Support the Office of Marketing and Communications by collecting information for FOIA requests specific to purchasing and contracts. The compliance coordinator serves as a resource to faculty, staff, and students, ensuring that policies, procedures, and practices align with legal requirements, and the College’s mission for fostering a safe, inclusive and equitable learning and work environment. Develops and leads implementation of a comprehensive ethics and compliance program with regards to the Clery Act, Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act (EADA), and hazing policies and other federal, state, local laws or institutional policies, as assigned, ensuring alignment with the college’s mission, values, and strategic goals. Assists in the maintenance and submission of the annual Clery Report, Hazing Act, Violence Prevention Plan, and the Campus Emergency Operations Plan. Assists in submitting accurate documentation for NJCAA Audits and the annual Athletic Evaluation report, and ensuring all required documentation is collected and maintained, and that reports are submitted on time. Ensures student-athletes meet academic and athletic eligibility requirements through accurate recordkeeping and verification. Performs team audits and submit compliance documentation to NJCAA as required. Responds to compliance inquiries and trains staff and coaches on NJCAA rules and updates. Oversees institutional adherence to NJCAA regulations and coordinate with NJCAA officials on rule interpretations and violations. Advises senior leadership on matters related to ethics, compliance, and regulatory risks, providing strategic counsel on proactive measures to mitigate risks. Oversees college compliance with relevant laws, regulations, accreditation standards, and internal policies. Develops and maintains policies, procedures, and training programs that promote compliance and ethical behavior at all levels of the college. Monitors changes in federal, state, NJCAA, and local laws and regulations to ensure the institution’s practices are updated accordingly. Participate in ongoing professional development to remain current with applicable laws, regulations, and accreditation standards. Ensures proper reporting and documentation of compliance issues, maintaining a high level of transparency and accountability within the college. Supports purchasing and contract FOIA requests by communicating with impacted parties and ensuring documentation is collected in a timely manner. Ensures the college’s timely and accurate response to any compliance-related inquiries or investigations. Performs other duties as assigned. Working Conditions: Standard office environment with occasional evening or weekend responsibilities for training, events, or urgent compliance matters. May require minimal travel to attend professional development, training, or compliance-related meetings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Public Administration, or Sports Management
  • At least three years of full-time experience in governance, intercollegiate athletic compliance, or higher education administration at a post-secondary institution with responsibilities for maintaining state and/or federal compliance
  • Demonstrated knowledge of federal and state laws pertaining to the Clery Act, the Hazing Act, and the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA)
  • Demonstrated experience with problem-solving, mediation, and conflict resolution
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and priorities
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organization skills
  • Commitment and focus on fairness, student learning, and student development
  • Demonstrated ability to manage confidential and sensitive information with discretion

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree preferred
  • Experience working and collaborating with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and their audit procedures
  • Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP) certification
  • Experience working with sports teams and coaches in a community college or higher education setting
  • Experience with case management systems, compliance tracking tools, and report generation
