Play a key role in managing the Corporate Compliance Monitoring and Testing (M&T) program and components of the Compliance Management Programs. The Compliance Officer is responsible for ensuring that adequate, risk-based independent testing, monitoring, and validation is in place based on risk and relevance of the regulatory requirements. This may include consumer and non-consumer regulatory requirements. In addition, the role includes managing the compliance independent issue management and issue validation process for all compliance risk issues.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5-8 years of experience with regulatory compliance in a banking environment; knowledge of banking regulations and guidance (CFPB and FRB), including specific experience in fair lending, HMDA, and CRA
  • Prior experience managing teams of compliance testing specialists and/or managers in the execution of Compliance testing and monitoring engagements and validation of action plans in accordance with established standards
  • Prior testing, audit or business operations experience in areas involving regulatory compliance.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations, guidance, and industry leading practices
  • Experience with project implementation and management
  • Experience managing and developing staff
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is required

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive compliance testing and auditing procedures to ensure adherence to all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Conduct thorough and accurate testing of internal controls and processes to identify potential compliance risks and gaps.
  • Manage the intake and input of compliance identified issues into the bank’s GRC.
  • Conduct issue management, including validation of all compliance risk issues identified as part of Compliance or 1LOD identified issues.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze and interpret regulatory requirements and frameworks, and provide guidance and recommendations for remediation action.
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation of compliance testing processes, results, and findings.
  • Identify and escalate potential compliance issues and risks to senior management and provide recommendations for resolution.
  • Maintain knowledge of current and emerging trends, including regulatory expectations and standards for effective compliance management systems.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on compliance testing and auditing, and provide guidance and support to other team members as needed.
  • Provide guidance and clarity around priorities and goals for Compliance M&T program and work to ensure goals are communicated to team.
  • Work with Business Unit Managers to ensure compliance issues and recommendations are acted on responsibly and corrective action is effectively implemented.
  • Review complaints for trends and areas of compliance risk.
  • Ensure that the team is trained in laws and regulations.
  • Conduct fair lending risk assessments, reviews, fair lending analysis and/or redlining analysis.
