About The Position

Start Here. Grow Here. Stay Here. Do you have experience working with contractors and a background in the operations and maintenance of commercial buildings? As a Compliance/Maintenance Specialist III for the General Services Department, you will be coordinating and inspecting the work of contracts involving construction, operation, maintenance, land development, hydraulic controls, and pumps for multiple countywide Sarasota County Buildings. Join our team and apply today! Coordinate/Implement maintenance needs with County Forester/ Landscape Architect and Planner/Scheduler. Inspect landscape work performed by contractors, including mowing, irrigation, weeding of plant beds, planting beds, mulching beds, trimming of foliage, and herbicide application. Monitor county standards, policies, and ordinances regarding the application of fertilizer and pesticides. Create, review, and close work orders generated in work management programs. Perform landscape work /management in conjunction with county or contractor staff. Establish preventative maintenance schedules and coordinate with Scheduler/ Planner. Enforce county ordinances, policies, and standards regarding pest management. Respond timely and positively to customer inquiries and complaints. Manage contracts, coordinate contractor services and scheduling, and submit contractor invoices for payment. Monitor budget and submit purchase requests. Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. About You Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or its equivalent. Four (4) years total of related experience with two (2) years of inspecting experience. - OR - College or University level training in related fields may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required construction experience. Valid Florida driver's license at the time of hire. Physical Demands: Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. CJIS Clearance: The successful candidate will be subject to an extensive background check(s) as a part of the hiring process. Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment in any class for a period of five (5) years.
