About The Position

The Community Service Board of Middle Georgia is searching for a Medical Records Compliance Director. The Medical Records Compliance Director is responsible for overseeing the organization’s compliance, risk management, HIPAA, and medical records policies and programs. This role ensures the agency maintains compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards while supporting patient safety, risk reduction, and organizational integrity. The Director works collaboratively with leadership, regulatory agencies, and staff to develop policies, monitor compliance, investigate incidents, and implement training programs that strengthen organizational accountability and regulatory readiness.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare Administration, Health Information Management, Compliance, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Experience working in healthcare compliance, medical records, risk management, or healthcare administration
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to work across departments
  • Ability to handle highly confidential information with discretion
  • Ability to communicate professionally with physicians, attorneys, regulatory agencies, and all levels of leadership
  • Experience developing and implementing organizational policies and procedures
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to train and educate staff on compliance, safety, and regulatory standards

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Compliance, or a related field
  • Certifications such as Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC), RHIA, RHIT, or CHPS
  • Previous experience in behavioral health, community service boards, or public health systems
  • Experience working with CARF, CCBHC, DBHDD, Joint Commission, or other accreditation/regulatory bodies
  • Experience conducting internal compliance audits or regulatory readiness assessments
  • Experience leading organization-wide compliance or risk management programs

Responsibilities

  • Create and modify policies to comply with safety legislation and industry practices.
  • Create and modify policies to ensure corporate compliance.
  • Create and modify policies to ensure HIPAA compliance.
  • Develop, implement, and coordinate organization-wide programs to prevent and detect risk.
  • Investigate any incidences that may result in asset loss.
  • Update and maintain Risk Management sites.
  • Develop and maintain a summary status of each risk management case.
  • Develop and maintain patient/vendor incident summaries.
  • Conduct risk and safety management orientation for management and staff to enhance awareness of their role in patient safety, risk reduction, and event reporting.
  • Conduct corporate compliance training during orientation for new staff and provide refresher courses for existing staff.
  • Review the corporate compliance plan annually and make any necessary revisions.
  • Review corporate compliance, risk management, HIPAA, and medical records related policies to ensure compliance with CARF, CCBHC, DBHDD, and other regulatory entities.
  • Provide training to building safety officers.
  • Aggregate data from incident reports and safety drills, identifying and communicating trends.
  • Ensure a process is in place to monitor required drills for each site per guidelines and report any delinquent drills to management.
  • Act as Chair of the Corporate Compliance Committee and hold meetings at least once per quarter.
  • Serve on the Safety Risk Management Committee and the OAP Committee.
  • Act as liaison to outside agencies including local, state, federal, and voluntary accrediting organizations.
  • Create internal surveys and inspections to coordinate improvement efforts with management and staff.
  • Assure compliance with all company plans, policies, and procedures.
  • Oversee the handling of sensitive health information to ensure compliance with HIPAA standards.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
