About The Position

The Compliance Director is responsible for owning and leading development, coordination, and execution support for integrity-related initiatives across Mitsui Americas, Mitsui USA, Genpos, and group companies in the Americas reporting to the General Manager of OCI, with delegated authority to lead and operationalize regional integrity priorities. The role plays a central part in advancing Mitsui’s Core Value, “Act with Integrity,” and driving the implementation of the With Integrity initiative across the Americas. The incumbent leads the development and execution of regional integrity strategies, ensures alignment with policies, guidelines, and expectations established by Mitsui Headquarters (“Mitsui HQ”). This role also supports cross-functional and One Mitsui initiatives, contributes to policy and guideline alignment efforts, and serves as an internal resource to strengthen integrity culture and capabilities within OCI and across the Americas region.

Requirements

  • Minimum ten (10) years of experience in compliance, ethics, legal or related fields.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of compliance, ethics, or related corporate governance programs.
  • Strong leadership, advisory, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across functions and organizational levels.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across functions, entities, and cultures.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to deliver results under competing priorities and timelines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint).
  • English required

Responsibilities

  • Integrity Promotion and Culture Initiatives
  • Plans, leads, and executes initiatives related to Mitsui’s Core Value, “Act with Integrity,” and the With Integrity initiative across Mitsui Americas and Mitsui USA.
  • Leads the planning, coordination, and execution of With Integrity Month activities for Mitsui Americas and Mitsui USA, ensuring consistency with Mitsui HQ standards and expectations.
  • Provides guidance, coordination, and support to Genpos and group companies in the Americas in planning and implementing their own integrity-related initiatives, including With Integrity Month activities.
  • Promotes consistency in integrity messaging, approach, and execution across entities while allowing for appropriate local adaptation.
  • Policy and Guideline Alignment
  • Owns regional accountability for the review, revision, and enforcement of integrity‑related policies and guidelines.
  • Leads the review and revision of internal policies and guidelines for Mitsui Americas and Mitsui USA to ensure full alignment with the latest With Integrity Guidelines issued by Mitsui HQ, as well as applicable integrity standards and expectations.
  • Supports Genpos and group companies in reviewing, updating, and aligning their internal policies and guidelines with the latest With Integrity Guidelines issued by Mitsui HQ, as well as applicable integrity standards and expectations.
  • Coordinates with Legal, HR, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure guideline updates are communicated and implemented effectively.
  • Knowledge Transfer and Capability Building within OCI
  • Provides functional oversight and guidance to OCI staff and designated integrity points of contact across the region.
  • Serves as a senior subject-matter advisor within OCI, sharing experience and practical knowledge related to compliance and integrity work, including Mitsui HQ–level practices, standards, and expectations.
  • Serves as an internal resource to strengthen OCI’s collective understanding of integrity promotion, integrity-related policy design, and culture-building initiatives.
  • Cross-Functional Initiatives and Special Projects
  • Leads or supports special projects and initiatives as assigned by the Chief Compliance Officer and/or General Manager of OCI, including but not limited to:
  • – Cross-functional and One Mitsui initiatives
  • – Ad hoc compliance and integrity-related projects
  • – Internal investigations
  • – Coordination with Legal, HR, business teams, and Mitsui HQ on compliance and integrity-related matters
  • Exercises independent judgment and decision-making authority in addressing emerging priorities requiring additional planning, coordination, and execution capacity.
  • Is accountable for regional integrity program outcomes, including consistency of implementation, risk identification, and timely escalation of issues to senior leadership.
