The specialist will be responsible to gather & analyze compliance data in support of worldwide product safety, US & Foreign customs initiatives, and export control. Although the location of the position is in Newton, NJ, from time to time it may be required to undertake duties at other Thorlabs locations.

Requirements

  • 1 or more years of compliance or regulatory experience working with government agencies, as well as 5 or more years of administrative record keeping experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • MS Excel Experience.
  • Basic computer skills are required.
  • Data entry experience.
  • Familiarity with Axapta (or other ERP system) and RAF system.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required to enable an effective interface with other departments, professional and support staff, customers, potential customers, vendors, and government representatives. Must have the ability to maintain the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Must be able to work on a self-initiated basis and in a team environment, and able to work extended hours as needed.
  • Outstanding attention to detail and strong ability to multitask.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with individuals at all levels or the company. Working with individuals from all departments is a daily requirement.
  • Must be able to understand written work instructions.
  • Basic mathematic and analytical skills are required.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates with Vendors & Buyers for the purposes of accurate compliance classifications and traceability requirements. Including RoHS, REACH, Conflict Mineral, and TSCA requirements.
  • Maintains computerized database files utilizing Sharepoint & Axapta software or software specific to the office to which assigned.
  • Checks supplier data documents for compliance with requirements and for quality of the documents to be reproducible.
  • Initiates e-mail, fax and/or telephone calls to obtain further data and ensure completeness of records.
  • Reviews product technical data packets for completeness including all required test reports & signatures.
  • Meeting company standards pertaining to quantity and quality of work performed on an ongoing basis, performing all work-related tasks in a manner that is in compliance with all Company policies and procedures.
  • Adhering to Company policies, procedures, and directives regarding standards of workplace behavior in completing job duties and assignments.
  • The Company retains the right to change or assign other duties to this position.
