About The Position

As the Complex Director of People Services this role provides People Services leadership and direction for assigned properties at CoralTree Hospitality in alignment with the company’s strategic vision, operating plans and efforts to bring the values to life throughout all properties. The primary roles played by the Area People Services Directors are that of Advisor, Mentor, Communicator, Auditor and Strategic Leader for People Services initiatives and efforts where collaboration across the Area will best leverage resources to the shared benefit of the organization.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years in a complex HR role – hospitality experience preferred.
  • College degree in HR, Business, or similar, or equivalent in experience.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Availability to travel up to 25% of the time.
  • Computer literate in Microsoft tools, Applicant Tracking Systems, and HRIS tools.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a mentor, thought partner and advisor to Complex and Property PSDs/Managers within the Area assigned on the full gamut of People Services matters, including talent acquisition, development, engagement, employee relations, terminations, layoffs, and regulatory, union or legal matters.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration across the Area or sub-markets within the Area such that PSDs know their counterparts and feel comfortable reaching out for peer-to-peer advice and support on PS matters and local or regional initiatives.
  • Take an active role (in partnership with Operations and Home Office People Services team members) to successfully plan and execute Property Openings and Transitions, as needed.
  • Serve as an escalation point (after efforts are made at the Property level) for Operations, Finance, Sales and Marketing Property, Area, Regional and Home Office Leaders as necessary.
  • Support Area Properties when staff openings in Property & Complex PS roles occur or when service level gaps exist despite PS teams being fully staffed. Strategize solutions to close service level gaps and recommend appropriate functional training as needed.
  • Provide appropriate cascading of information and oversight throughout the Area, holding regular calls (as needed), meetings with all PSDs within the Area and 1-on-1 meetings where appropriate, playing a key role in onboarding new PSD/PSMs in the Area to the organization.
  • Ensure that Talent Acquisition efforts (aside from Big 5 efforts) are combined where mutual benefit exists to leverage CoralTree’s joint recruiting efforts in the market(s) within the Area (College Recruiting, H2B and J1 Visa Recruitment, international hiring fairs and other hiring events).
  • Participate in the development and implementation of PS business plans consistent with the strategic vision of the property/area and follow up to support PSDs and GMs accordingly through the year. Work closely with GM/MD and PSD/PSM in implementing, achieving, monitoring and maintaining the property’s goals & objectives.
  • Participate in the recruitment and selection of PS candidates (and senior leadership as needed).
  • Partner with GM/MD and property PSD/PSM to ensure that Performance Management and Goal Setting Processes are completed in quality fashion and execute talent reviews and/or develop career path planning processes for key strategic positions leveraging the CoralTree talent review process, system and tools.
  • Act as a resource to property leaders and facilitate the resolution of challenging employee relations, regulatory, legal and union/NLRA matters; perform investigations and resolve escalated disputes involving senior leadership within the Area.
  • Work closely with GM/MD and PSD/PSM in assessing training needs, ensuring delivery of training supports property/area performance goals & objectives throughout the year.
  • Provide leadership and direction in the development, execution and measurement of guest service standards within the area consistent with the company’s core service standards
  • Review results of property HR Audits; provide input and assist PSD/PSMs in resolution of deficiencies and follow up on progress to improve.
  • Collaborate with the home office PS team in the design and delivery of company-wide People Services programs and initiatives; serve as a liaison to Home Office PS where support or reinforcement of training or knowledge of programs is required.
  • Ensure that in overall decision making processes, synergies between properties are maximized.
  • Participate on task force and committees in the development and execution of People Services initiatives as needed.
