In addition to HPC applications, our compilers are used in the development of AMD machine learning frameworks and libraries. We are continuously innovating in LLVM upstream to enhance GPU compilation, debugging and tooling experiences. The successful candidate will have a great opportunity to work closely with AMD's top-tier machine learning, HPC, and libraries developers to achieve the best performance, debugging and tooling experiences from the compiler. THE PERSON: If you are a Compiler Engineer with a passion for working on debug information design and implementation, as well as compiler tooling, we would love to talk to you and share the many exciting projects we are working on.

Requirements

  • Strong C/C++ programming skills
  • Strong background in compilers
  • Strong background in debug information (DWARF or PDB)
  • Clang/LLVM experience

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement DWARF extensions for heterogeneous debugging
  • Design and implement LLVM IR changes that facilitate the generation of heterogeneous DWARF throughout the compiler stack
  • Implement debug information related changes that are required by new architectures
  • Participate in new architecture and hardware bring ups
  • Analyze / debug / fix existing issues and research alternative, more efficient ways to accomplish the same outcome
  • Collaborate with compiler team members spread across other geographic locations
  • Implement features / fix bugs in compiler tooling (e.g. hipify)
  • Represent AMD in open-source communities (e.g. LLVM) and standard bodies (e.g. DWARF Committee)
