Scope of Position As part of Corning Life Sciences' Strategy and Market Intelligence group, this role is responsible for leading all aspects of Competitive Intelligence for the Life Sciences business. The position involves close collaboration with global stakeholders to provide relevant external insights and informed, source-based perspectives on the competitive landscape, supporting decision-making for key initiatives. The role emphasizes building a strategic and fundamental understanding of key players by market segment, including their business strategies, structures, and operational capabilities such as capacity and resources. Additionally, it involves monitoring competitive tactics to guide actions and countermeasures for commercial and business teams. This position is also expected to contribute to broader Strategy and Market Intelligence functions. Project assignments will be determined based on business needs and may include areas such as Market Intelligence, Strategic Planning, Strategy Deployment, and External Development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Biological Sciences, Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 8+ years in market research, strategic planning, or similar disciplines.
  • Minimum of 2+ years in the Life Sciences industry.
  • Experience developing business insights based on detailed quantitative and qualitative. analysis
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills at the peer and executive levels
  • Cross-Functional Team Leadership experience (program or project management).
  • Advanced analytical skills & use of associated tools.
  • General Life Science product/process knowledge.
  • Ability to Leverage Technical and Market Expertise to drive business outcomes.

  • MBA strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain point of view of CLS competitive business positioning across key products, geographies, and end market areas in terms of sales, product portfolio, strategic direction, and operational capabilities including manufacturing and distribution. Considerations include category share and penetration.
  • Monitor and analysis business performance of key competitors, including financial performance, strategic actions, and resulting actionable insights. Also identify new entrants and strategic repositioning.
  • Build forward-looking models to assess future strategic competitive positions for business planning
  • Develop competitive business scenarios, leveraging game theory, for critical business decisions • Lead competitive product assessments in collaboration with internal functions including design, manufacturing, and engineering organizations.
  • Identify new business opportunities based on insights from the competitive environment
  • Support business planning efforts (strategic, financial) with up-to-date competitive perspectives on a periodic basis, aligned with business timelines.
  • Build dashboards, PowerPoint's, models, and other critical documents that effectively communicate results of efforts and recommendations to various leadership / partners.
  • Conduct ad-hoc research - primary and secondary - related to existing or new business.
  • Contribute to the completion of specific programs and projects.
