About The Position

The Community & Workforce Specialist II position is housed at the Pima County One Stop, Kino Service Center at 2797 E. Ajo Way and is an 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (Monday through Friday) position. The successful candidate will assist in workforce development for job seekers. Duties may include providing assistance with job training, support services, guidance, and job placement, as well as assisting with employment retention for program participants. This position performs specialized support activities for a designated program or work unit within the Community & Workforce Development Department. Our focus is to compassionately and urgently providing direct support to specialized, complex programming aimed at serving individuals in need. The successful candidate will participate in the specialized support activities of a single, complex functional program or work unit, differentiating this role from the Community & Workforce Coordinator, which involves coordinating a variety of activities. This position is also distinguished from the Community & Workforce Specialist I position by the complexity and specialization of the programming involved.

Requirements

  • Associates degree from an accredited college, university or technical school in management, public or business administration or a field related as determined by the department head at the time of recruitment AND one year of professional experience in health, customer service, human services, or a closely related field.
  • OR: One year of experience with Pima County as a Community and Workforce Specialist I or similar Pima County position, as determined by the department head at the time of recruitment.
  • (Relevant experience and/or education from an accredited college or university may be substituted.)
  • Valid driver license is required at time of application.
  • Valid AZ driver license is required at time of appointment.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum one (1) year experience working with and assisting job seekers.
  • Minimum one (1) year experience providing support services and community resources to the public.
  • Minimum one (1) year experience in data entry.
  • Experience with/knowledge of local community resources.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in the day-to-day operational and support activities of a specialized, complex functional program or work unit within the Community & Workforce Development Department
  • Provides direct services urgently and compassionately to Community & Workforce Development clients, which may include working with clients via phone, email, online, or in person, including collaboration with other agencies and organizations to maximize resources and services
  • Assesses the needs of community members and provides guidance on appropriate resources based on individual needs
  • Matches qualified candidates with resources, coaching, or support related to employment, education, or financial assistance
  • Represents the program or work unit at community events and in meetings with County personnel and/or community partners
  • Provides administrative and other support essential to the completion of program or work unit objectives, including mentoring and leading staff and volunteers in specialized program activities
  • Provides input to management in the development of program goals and objectives
  • Manages and maintains accurate records of program participants and their progress
  • Responsible for other duties as assigned in support of the overall goals and functions of both the Community & Workforce Development Department and Pima County
