Requirements

  • EDUCATION LEVEL: Two years successful post high school education.
  • EXPERIENCE DESIRED: Two years commensurate experience with students with disabilities with at least one year of experience in a position requiring interpersonal interaction skills and knowledge of programming for students with disabilities.
  • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position requires constant hand-eye, mind-eye coordination, hearing, intermittent grasping, keyboarding, speaking, and writing. Frequent filing, sitting, standing and walking are also required. The ability to drive a car is required.
  • OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Valid drivers license and ability to use personal vehicle for work. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Skills in human relations and development of student-client programs. Flexible hours including weekends. Demonstrated computer proficiency with experience in word processing, databases, and spreadsheets. Confirmed ability to work as a team member and demonstrated organizational skills required.

Responsibilities

  • Carries out programming as indicated on the Individual Education Plan including entering and monitoring transition goals/objectives.
  • Follows behavior management programs under the direction of teachers.
  • Routes and disseminates information about student work tasks to case managers and job developers.
  • Works cooperatively with professional staff.
  • Monitors student progress through reports/journals.
  • Provides physical assistance to students with special daily living needs.
  • Assists in facilitating classroom activities as directed by teachers.
  • Takes part in district and building in-service opportunities.
  • Provides training and assists students in accessing transportation.
  • Works cooperatively with community personnel to maximize the opportunity for student success in learning work skills.
  • Demonstrates and maintains clear, accurate communication of student performance with students, staff, administrators, and employers.
  • Maintains Project Skills folders and vocational checklists as requested.
  • Supports and reinforces employer expectations regarding dress codes and supervision as required on the job site.
  • Understands the importance of employer standards and maintains the integrity of the job site.
  • Maintains professional standards as a representative of the school district.
  • Supports and maintains assistive technology and equipment needs of students.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of students and their families.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisors.
