About The Position

MBI Health Services is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Community Support Worker (CSW) to join our School-Based Program. In this role, you will provide direct support to children and adolescents with serious emotional and behavioral disorders, working closely with their families, school staff, and clinical teams. This position is primarily based in the assigned school setting ( at least 85% of time spent on-site ) and includes classroom support, skill-building interventions, and home-based coordination with parents or guardians. The goal is to equip youth and families with the tools they need to build independence, succeed in school, and work toward individual recovery goals.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Prior experience working in mental health, social services, or educational settings
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage time effectively, stay organized, and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic computer proficiency required.
  • Must be able to work independently while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Successful completion of criminal background check and other regulatory clearances required.

Nice To Haves

  • Some college coursework preferred; ideal candidates will have education in Social Work, Psychology, Education, or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all MBI policies and procedures to ensure quality care in compliance with DC Mental Health Standards, MBI regulations, and all applicable Federal, State, and local laws.
  • Maintain confidentiality of consumer records and documentation in accordance with HIPAA and MBI policies.
  • Conduct interviews, collect assessments, and evaluate daily functioning to help identify areas requiring continued support, treatment, or additional resources.
  • Provide support in school, home, and community settings to help consumers function more independently and safely.
  • Facilitate physical, social, educational, and recreational activities.
  • Serve as a positive role model and support clients in developing coping, interpersonal, and daily living skills.
  • Identify and connect clients to appropriate community services, including social, educational, recreational, and economic supports.
  • Maintain ongoing collaboration and communication with external providers, agencies, school staff, and caregivers.
  • Recognize and effectively respond to potential crisis and emergency situations; inform Supervisor or Manager of incidents promptly and implement appropriate strategies.
  • Assist the case management team with identifying concerns and providing feedback for the development of the consumer’s Individual Recovery Plan.
  • Participate in treatment team meetings, supervisory sessions, and program trainings.
  • Provide a minimum of 25 billable SIDA hours (See, Intervene, Document, Approve) weekly.
  • Ensure all services contribute to a smooth transition for new clients and support a positive and respectful consumer experience.
  • Attend all required trainings and mandatory meetings.
