About The Position

The Community Services Support Supervisor will provide oversight for all support services provided to members of the Kemmerer Village, Inc. Community Services team. This includes coaching, training, coordinating, and acting as a go-to resource for team members. The Lead Support Specialist is responsible for ensuring implementation, tracking, completion of, and accountability for all Support Team job functions (i.e. permanency achievement, resource recruitment, licensing, adoption, etc.)

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in social work or in a related field AND minimum of two years work experience in foster care or child welfare.
  • OR
  • Bachelor’s Degree in social work or in a related field AND:
  • Minimum three years of work experience in foster care or child welfare AND
  • Commitment to apply to a graduate program in social work or related field within 6 months and enroll within 18 months
  • Note-specific limitations apply to the number of supervisors allowed at this level per agency
  • A willingness and ability to work actively in a team relationship with agency program staff. Must have the ability to communicate well and collaborate productively with other agencies and within the community.
  • Demonstrate personal attributes of maturity, flexibility, responsibility, and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, attend, and conduct training and events both within the agency and within the community.
  • Have strong data analysis skills needed to conduct diligent search activities across multiple databases, systems, social media, and other websites.
  • Ability to analyze information from multiple sources and make sound, timely decisions.
  • Maintain the ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks and deadlines. Must be able to maintain attention, focus, and accuracy in documentation and assessments.
  • Must hold or obtain a Child Welfare Employee License within 90 days of employment. Must meet DCFS requirements as a Foster Home Licensing Supervisor or obtain within 30 days of eligibility. Training is provided.

Nice To Haves

  • Administrative experience in a child welfare agency is preferred.
  • Experience regarding trauma, mental health, behavioral interventions, crisis response is strongly preferred, as is experience working with children with special needs.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Licensing Supervisor for Kemmerer Village, Inc. foster parent licensing.
  • Ensures that assigned Support Team staff perform their essential job duties and meet performance expectations as outlined in their job descriptions, including monitoring, coaching, and enforcing compliance with those duties and expectations.
  • Effectively communicate and uphold the philosophy, policies and procedures of Kemmerer Village, Inc. as set by the Board of Directors and Executive Director to staff, foster parents and persons in the community at large.
  • Must be able to correctly interpret, apply, and adhere to DCFS policies and procedures.
  • Provide direct supervision to Community Services Support Team. Responsible for the effective coordination and collaboration of the support team staff with one another, and with other agency staff as it pertains to client services.
  • Define and evaluate performance expectations of staff as outlined in the staff manual, under the direction of the Director of Community Operations.
  • Clearly and concisely communicate needs, issues, and concerns regarding foster parents, relative caregivers, youth placements, and members of the case management team to the Director of Community Operations.
  • Complete, or oversee completion of all necessary reports required by DCFS or Kemmerer Village, Inc. policy and procedure accurately and in a timely fashion. Provide assistance in completing any other reports as necessary and/or requested by Director of Community Operations.
  • Provide quality oversight of Support Team performance and documentation, and provide ongoing support, training, and performance follow up via weekly, documented supervision.
  • Create effective tracking mechanisms for all Support Team functions to ensure compliance, accuracy, and effectiveness. The Lead is responsible for team accountability, and must be able to quickly and accurately provide answers regarding team performance.
  • Ensure appropriate follow-through and clear communication between the Support Team and all other members of the Community Services Team.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Illinois driver’s license, safe driving record, and required insurance coverage in compliance with Kemmerer Village, Inc. policy and applicable state law.
  • Demonstrate the ability to problem-solve, utilize critical thinking, and exercise independent judgment.
  • Effectively utilize program resources to best meet the needs of children and families in the care of Kemmerer Village, Inc. to ensure quality services at or above contract expectations. Communicate resource allocation and needs with Director of Community Operations.
  • Document and report any unusual incidents immediately, provide feedback to the Support Team, Casework Supervisors, Caseworkers, and other team members as appropriate.
  • Assist Director of Community Operations in other duties as assigned
  • The Community Services Support Supervisor must be able to maintain a team relationship with Kemmerer Village, Inc. staff from all departments. This includes foster parents, caseworkers, supervisors, Adoption Specialist, therapists, and other agency personnel.
  • Must be able to resolve conflicts in a straightforward manner with the outcome being understood by all involved.
  • Must, at all times, present a professional model for foster children and other staff. Through their attire, manner, language, behavior, and attitude, will serve as an example of a professional in the field of child welfare. Must be able to perform within and de-escalate stressful situations in a professional manner.
  • Shall, at all times, use the best judgment in self-management of duties, time, and tasks. All agency information and personal information about the children in care or their biological families is considered confidential and not to be shared outside the agency.
  • Shall have the ability to take direction and follow the lines of authority when necessary, including the ability to adjust satisfactorily to the Kemmerer Village, Inc. program.
  • Must be able to communicate well with others in any situation and provide clear and concise direction in response to inquiries and questions. Possess the ability to communicate complex information clearly both verbally and in writing.
  • Possesses strong, creative problem-solving skills, utilizing critical thinking skills, and use non-traditional search methods to identify and locate family members and supportive connections.
  • Shall have the ability to maintain professional regulation in trauma-related or challenging interactions.
  • Have the ability to engage the youth (as age-appropriate), birth parents, family and social connections, foster parents, and staff to facilitate and support stability and permanency for the youth.
  • Shall have the ability to take direction and follow the lines of authority when necessary, including the ability to adjust satisfactorily to the Kemmerer Village program.
