About The Position

The Community Services Outreach Specialist at the City of Tucson’s Fire Department is responsible for managing a caseload of 15-20 clients. This includes initial efforts to connect each individual to community resources to fill gaps in service. Also responsible for regularly checking on each client to ensure that they are successful with the plan that is built for them. Work is performed under the supervision of the Community Risk Reduction Manager. This position does not supervise.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two (2) years of relevant experience.
  • A valid and unrestricted driver's license with two (2) years of licensed driving is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • (2) years of directly related experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
  • Emergency Medical Technician
  • Experience in social services, behavioral health, counseling, Emergency Medical Services or closely related field.
  • Emergency Medical Technician certification or capable of obtaining certification within the first year of employment.
  • Bilingual in Spanish

Responsibilities

  • Builds and maintains relationships with community partners and stakeholders.
  • Meets with clients to gather basic information including but not limited to perceived needs, home income, health insurance information, primary care information and case worker information.
  • Assesses client needs and coordinates services with community resources.
  • Provides information or refers individuals to community services for assistance.
  • Keeps records and prepares reports.
  • Performs all other duties and tasks as assigned.
