About The Position

Our vision is to break the cycle of poverty one neighbor at a time. Through safety-net services and asset building solutions, Worcester Community Action Council (WCAC) creates economic mobility opportunities for tens of thousands of people annually through programs such as energy assistance, early education and care, financial empowerment, positive youth development, and career pathways. WCAC serves 45 towns in Central and South-Central Massachusetts with offices located in Worcester, Southbridge, Webster, East Brookfield, and Leicester. We are a team of 125 employees and an annual budget of approximately $30 million. WCAC’s Resiliency Center offers programming intended to educate, empower, and connect people to community resources and financial opportunities and support them to reach their self-identified goals using a holistic, client-centered approach to meeting individuals and families where they are with warm, supported resources and referral services. We are seeking a Community Resource Navigator to assist individuals and families with navigation through public benefit eligibility and connection to needed community resources in collaboration with the UMass Clinic System, resulting in improved access to basic needs and progress toward economic mobility. This is a full time position that will be based at our Worcester office, but serve Northern Worcester County and will require extensive travel to partner organizations (will be reimbursed for mileage).

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or HiSet equivalent required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to learn software and databases used by WCAC.
  • Experience working with individuals and families in social/human services or related fields.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
  • Highly positive and empathetic style; strong customer service orientation.
  • Excellent communication both verbal and written.
  • Ability to learn Agency program eligibilities, as well as community-wide resource eligibilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with individuals, families, agency program staff, and community partners.
  • Ability to work respectfully and effectively with a diverse group of program participants and in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Ability to successfully complete a CORI/SORI review.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
  • May require weekend and evening hours, as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree a plus.
  • Knowledge of Central Massachusetts area community resources preferred.
  • Bilingual ability preferred.
