About The Position

The Community Programs Supervisor is responsible for the implementation of Puentes de Esperanza services and initiatives throughout Metro-East and Southern Illinois by supervising bilingual team members, assessing program needs, participating in service provider groups, and representing the agency in community events. This position monitors compliance with agency contracts and ensures services align with the agency's mission and vision. The Community Programs Supervisor will provide on-going support to bilingual team members and advocacy on behalf of Spanish-speaking families. This position works closely with providers throughout the state and bi-state area to provide resources to families and represent a voice for Latino families in Southern Illinois.

  • Participate in required meetings, training, and program activities as required by the agency and grant funder.
  • Responsible for leading program implementation and fulfilling the grant expectations.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to engage young people, parents, and community members on sensitive topics.
  • Understanding community needs and the ability to analyze local data.
  • Critical thinking within a fast-paced environment.
  • Project management with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Must meet DCFS/CANTS Clearance Requirements.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and maintain proof of automobile insurance.
  • High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution preferred.
  • Must be bilingual (Spanish and English) and have experience working with immigrant populations for 6+ years.
  • Exhibit the leadership qualities required of this position.
  • The personal characteristics and experiential background that enables the Community Programs Supervisor to provide appropriate care for children and adults, develop positive, therapeutic relationships with them, guide them in their development and actively engage the Spanish-speaking community.

Responsibilities

  • Provides supervision and ongoing support to Puentes de Esperanza team members for ongoing support through daily communication and weekly meetings.
  • Interviews, hires and selects staff for employment in various programs. Trains and mentors newly hired Puentes team members upon completion of the new hire orientation.
  • Ensures grant compliance and assists staff to resolve barriers to achieving the expectations of the program. Provides direction for services and assists staff to resolve service delivery obstacles.
  • Assures that accurate and complete data is compiled in the reporting systems as required by the grant in order to document the compliance with the goals, objectives and quantity of services. Participates in the on-going comprehensive quality improvement process. Prepares programmatic reports as required by the funder and agency.
  • Works collaboratively program staff to ensure grant funds are spent in accordance to the contracts and agency policies.
  • Conducts outreach to community service provider and organizes events for Spanish speaking families to connect to resources and support. Participates in additional community events as an organization representative.
  • Remains knowledgeable about services available to immigrant communities and community resources and their respective eligibility. Accepts calls from community resources and personnel from other agencies after regular business hours.
  • Monitors case assistance requests for Spanish speaking families involved with Department of Children & Family Services (DCFS) and responds to requests for services when needed. Collaborates with program leadership to manage the on-call scheduling for interpretation and translation requests from DCFS.
  • Must be certified in the CARE practice model and provide support to team members consistent with CARE principles. This includes shift planning, coaching and decision-making support for staff on duty.
  • Must be certified in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention and capable of performing crisis prevention and de-escalation techniques with fidelity to the TCI model. Expected to conduct TCI methods as required. Will actively seek to prevent behavioral crises, de-escalate crises as they occur and respond to crises in accordance with TCI guidelines.
  • Adheres to agency personnel policies. Assures that staff comply with agency policies and procedures, including training requirements. Monitors and maintains training records of all program staff as identified by the agency and/or funder.
