About The Position

The County of Orange, Registrar of Voters conducts proactive outreach programs in Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, and Spanish as mandated by the U.S. Voting Rights Act. This includes translation/proofreading of election materials, providing language assistance to voters, voter education, and serving as an on-going liaison with language-based community organizations and media. This position works with the Spanish speaking population of Orange County. The Bilingual Community Program Specialist will: Plan, develop and implement informational campaign and strategies to gain public participation and support for voter registration and election participation within the Spanish Speaking community of Orange County Translate election materials into Spanish Proofread election materials translated into Spanish by outside translation agencies Write press releases for Spanish language press publications Provide language assistance support services to Vote Centers via video conferencing, chat, over the phone and through the development of all Vote Center language assistance materials Participate in the official canvass of election results Assist in the process of drafting, developing, and updating Outreach reports, such as the Election Administration Plan, Voter Rights Compliance Act Report, etc. Conduct outreach to the Spanish language community through special events, personal contacts, media interviews and public speaking engagements throughout the community Active participant in High School voter education events throughout Orange County Train and assist in the supervision of Extra Help staff assigned to help with translations & proofing
